“I bought myself a blue typewriter to write away my feels”

The singer and bassist Fríða Dís started her solo career in 2020 after being in several bands since she was a teenager (Klassart, Tabula Rasa, Eldar, Trilogia). Her first solo album, Myndaalbúm (Photo Albums), was released in February 2020. In 2022 she released two albums, Lipstick On in July and Fall River was released on  the 12th of November, an album dedicated to her mother on her mother’s birthday. Fríða is currently working on her fourth studio album which will be released next spring(2025). She has already released two songs from the upcoming album, “My Film Noir” and “The Boathouse Dance”.

Fríða’s music has this vintage vibe where her voice flourish in a dreamy space, led by her raw bass sound that is obviously borrowed from the first decade of rock music.

Fríða is very much in love with her band where she sings and plays the bass with her brother Smári Guðmundsson on lead guitar, Halldór Lárusson on drums, Soffía Björg Óðinsdóttir on rhythm guitar and vocals and María Rún Baldursdóttir on percussion and vocals.

All her albums are published by Smástirni.
